【展覽名稱】(英):Luminance at the Inmost Heart of the Forests - Seeking Hope in the Depths of Despair : A Tree Portraitist's Forest Gaze and Journey of Healing
Real life is never perfect, and it is never free of regrets; along the way, we all encounter hardships that offer no easy answers. After enduring profound wounds within marriage and family, and the painful unraveling of a treasured friendship, the artist spent long months trapped in endless self-doubt, grief, and emotional exhaustion. During this dark season, while traveling once again along Taiwan's east coast this summer, he picked up a picture book titled The Glowing Tree in a library. Reading barely halfway through, tears fell uncontrollably—and in that very moment, deep within, the voice of his soul as a "father tree" was reawakened.
A decade has passed since he first stepped into this island's mountain forests—a land rich with hidden treasures. Over the years, he has come to realize that these ancient yet ever-renewing forests truly hold an inexhaustible and miraculous power to heal. Luminance at the Inmost Heart of the Forests is a life story whispered to the universe and the earth by the Tree Portraitist: while the helplessness and sorrow endured in solitude leave indelible scars, every quiet encounter with ancient tree spirits and the wondrous pulses of nature has, beneath the long ashes of darkness, quietly gathered into the nourishment for new growth.
"No tree on Earth needs human beings to survive, yet human beings cannot survive without trees." Having walked through the depths of darkness and endless forest trails, the great spirit of the trees has taught him a enduring truth: if you are willing to become a luminous tree—for all that you love, and for yourself—the spring of hope within you will eventually find its way back, no matter how deep the despair.
Presented across four distinct chapters and featuring over a hundred carefully curated photographic poems of heartfelt forest gaze, this exhibition invites viewers along a corridor of time—stepping from the quiet shadows toward the sacred mountain dawn, to rediscover cleansing, solace, and profound blessings within the gentle breath and luminance of ancient trees.
